Wings
“Wings” combines two of my favorite things: monarch butterflies and weird geometry. This shape is a pure exploration of geometry, based on something called a “star antiprism“. That isn’t exactly the shape I’ve produced here; I’ve added a half-turn between the upper and lower halves of the sculpture, where a regular star antiprism would be symmetrical.
The sculpture stands about 2.5” tall and 3” across at the widest. It is a one of a kind work of art.
“Wings”, 2020. 2.5” x 3” x 3”. Seed beads, monofilament.
