Tropical Crab
This sculpture was inspired by a trip to the California coast line and by the beads I brought back, including the lampworked bead set into the top. The colors I used have names like guava, orchid, and kiwi and I couldn’t help but imagine a tropical paradise when I was working with them
”Tropical Crab” was the first of my crab sculptures, and after completing it I learned the word “carcinisation”, which describes the tendency of animals to independently evolve towards crab shapes. Crabs are just that cool.
Like all my crab children, this is a one of a kind work of art.
“Tropical Crab”, 2019. 3” x 3.5” x 3.5”. Seed beads, crystal bicones, lampworked bead, monofilament.
