Jeweled Buckyball
I don’t know if I could tell you why, but spheres are some of my favorite shapes to bead, and in particular buckyballs like this one. Maybe because they’re so friendly to the hand, easy to hold and play with.
”Buckyball” is a geeky way of saying “classic soccer ball shape”, pentagons and hexagons stitched together. This particular buckyball is made of rich jewel toned colors, emerald, sapphire, ruby, and cinnamon. The outside surface is a creamy white with a thread of gold running through. The inner surface is a deep midnight blue, providing a lovely contrast.
This is a one of a kind work of art.
“Jeweled Buckyball”, 2019. 4.5” diameter. Seed beads, monofilament.
